Beijing Olympic torch reach Paris from London onto San Francisco

07 April 2008:Paris:Paris Police authorities said that the last leg of the Olympic flame relay through Paris will not be on run as chaos persist.The Beijing Olympics torch as reported in the media was  put under police escort on a bus for safety after flame relay across Paris was interrupted five times by pro-Tibet protesters.Torch will be carried in special vehiclefor the entire leg of the route to a stadium in South of Paris.

French police today in order to subside the 500 Tibetan protesters congregated at Trocadero square opposite Eiffel Tower were carried banner reading “Save Tibet," and “Act fast, Tibet is dying." Across town compelled to arrest  twenty eight people as they made an attempt to block the torch"s relay route through the city.

The flame started its journey from the Eiffel Tower, French athlete Stephane Diagana leading off the proposed relay of 80 runners,on it way through the Paris streets.The torch covered on both side with a phalanx of motorcycle police, jogging firemen, police on roller blades and dozens of riot police vehicles.

As the flame moved barely more than 200 meters before it was put aboard a bus to prevent any attempt to extinguish the flame. French police is having arduous task quell pro-Tibet activists trying to get to the foot of the Eiffel Tower, as the Olympic torch began its prestigious relay across the French capital.

Police were keen to remove the Tibetan flags and the protesters accompanying to either put them away or leave the sector, as the flame set off on the 28-kilometer route protected by thousands of police to a stadium in the south of the capital.Protesters carrying French and Chinese flags were allowed to stay.

“The torch relay has been targeted. The International Olympic Committee has expressed its serious concern and calls for a rapid peaceful resolution in Tibet," IOC president Rogge said in a brief speech at the meetings" opening ceremony.

06 Apr 2008:London:Thirty-five arrests have been made after clashes between pro-Tibet protesters and police as the Olympic torch made its way through London.Protest all over the world have sprung up over China"s human rights infringement on 10 March on Tibetan protest which took place in Amdo and Kham in chinese province of Gansu.sichuan and Qinghai with the names of protest points at Ngaba, Bora, Labrang, Mangra, Ditsa, Yulgan, Tsekhog, Tsoe, Palung, Chentsa, Rebgong, Kyegudo, Dariang, Sershul, Machu, Chigdril, Chone, Luchu, Ngaba, Serthar, Palyul, Tehor, Drango, Barkham, Tridu, Kanze, Lithang, Nyakrong.

Tibetan natives in Russia,France,US,Poland,Greece,Vienna did made protest. China canceled a visit by Czech education officials because Prague"s government ministry raised a Tibetan flag in one of its windows, Chinese authorities said in a statement released here.

Protests over China"s human rights record began soon after the relay began at Wembley,in London and prompted an increasing police presence through the city.One protester tried to snatch the torch from former Blue Peter host Konnie Huq. Thousands of protesters also waved banners proclaiming: ‘Torch of Shame", ‘Stop The Killing In Tibet", ‘No Olympic Torch In Tibet" and ‘China Talk To Dalai Lama". Many were wearing Tibetan flags and carrying signs including ‘Human rights. Not a game". While many people who lined the streets waved as the torch passed, others booed the Olympic vehicles, including a bus carrying many of the torch bearers.

After an unpublicized change to the route, the Chinese ambassador carried the torch through Chinatown.It later made an unscheduled move onto a bus.In London the torch has the longest relay of nearly 50 kilometers among cities outside China"s mainland. Eighty torchbearers, including Paralyolympics, Olympic athletes and celebrities carried the torch through ten London boroughs from Wembley to Greenwich. Landmark buildings and ancient sites witnessed the sacred flame.

Dragon and lion dancing performance dressed up the Chinatown like a festival. Large groups of Chinese in squares or concentration point waited the flame hours before its arrival.

Quintuple Olympic gold medallist rower from Marlow Bottom Steve Redgrave initiated the relay within the Wembley Stadium.

After striking gold in Sydney, Redgrave became the only English athlete ever to have won gold medals in five consecutive Olympic Games. His first Olympic gold came in the coxed fours in Los Angeles in 1984, followed by gold with Andy Holmes in the coxless pairs at Seoul in 1988, gold with Matthew Pinsent in the coxless pairs at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 and the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.

In the Downing Street, Prime Minister Gordon Brown met a special torchbearer Ali Jawad, a disabled athlete on wheelchair, who is on the brink of qualification for Beijing Paralympics."The Olympic games are very important for all Chinese. In Chinatown, everyone is very anxious to see the torch pass," said London Chinese Community Center spokeswoman Annie Wu. “We hope it goes smoothly."Chinese ambassador to Britain Fu Ying ran her leg in Chinatown, who was a hot topic of British media over whether she would be a torchbearer."It"s a great day for both London and Beijing. The two cities meet each other today," said Fu."I hope the Olympic flame can splash peace, harmony and friendship to the world. I"m happy to see large groups of residents give their warm welcome to the flame"s arrival including the elderly and the young."The Chinatown leg is a very special experience. Britain is one of the top destinations for first-generation Chinese migrants, so a lot of people have been living here for decades."It"s really a great pleasure to see Londoners smiling and waving."
The Asian descendant Mayuri Morawaka had a leg in Enfield. “I ran a year dance club with another fellow student once a week at my school, I also help with sports day and dance workshops. I am currently completing the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award," said Morawaka.

“I strongly support the Olympics because it encourages people to engage in more physical activity and a great opportunity to seethe world"s sporting talents bringing each other closer."

Chun Pal Mak, an English student with Chinese origin living in London, carried the torch through Greenwich.

“This is the greatest honor to be able to represent Britain and China in this exchange of great importance. Since as a child I"ve watched the Olympics and prided myself that I am both British and Chinese," he said.

“I love sports and participate in many, representing the John Roan Secondary Schools cricket team. We reached the finals and we also won the under-15 league."

The last bearer is Dame Kelly Holmes, a retired English middle-distance athlete. She won gold medals in the 800 meters and1,500 meters at the 2004 Summer Games.

The route covers London"s cross-sectional sites including Wembley Stadium, Notting Hill Gate, Hyde Park Place, Marble Arch, Oxford Circus, British Museum, Chinatown Arch, Trafalgar Square, Downing Street, Bridge Street, Waterloo Bridge, St Paul"s Cathedral and Greenwich.

More than 80,000 people of Chinese descent live in London, making it the largest Chinese community in Europe.

Following the London leg of the Olympic Torch Relay, the torch has travel to Paris for its fifth leg in the global tour.

The Beijing Olympic flame left London and arrived at the Charles De Gaulle airport at 11:40 pm of Sunday local time, preparing for its fifth stop of the world journey.Chinese Ambassador to France Kong Quan and French Olympic Committee officials greeted the arrival of the flame.

Vice president of Beijing Organizing Committee of Olympic Games Jiang Xiaoyu led the flame delegation and made a brief exhibition of the lantern which encases the sacred fire.

The Beijing Olympic torch relay in Paris on Monday is a good way in memory of Paris-born Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of modern Olympic movement.

The Olympic torch will pass major landmarks and scenic spots of Paris including the Eiffel Tower, the Arch of Triumph,Champs Elysees Avenue, the Concorde Square, Le Louvre museum and Cathedral of Notre Dame.

French Olympic champion Marie-Josee Perec, Portugal forward Pedro Miguel Pauleta and badminton player Pi Hongyan are among the 80 torchbearers who will follow Coubertin"s footsteps to spread the Olympic spirit.

Next destination after Paris is San Francisco its citizen prepare flags for the welcoming ceremony of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay. The Olympic flame will arrive in San Francisco on April 9.

The city"s leading tourist attractions are located at the port, including Hyde Street Pier, Fisherman"s Wharf, PIER 39 and access to Alcatraz. These attractions draw more than 15 million visitors annually to San Francisco"s northern waterfront.
