Twin city of Jammu and Kashmir,Jammu and Srinagar is in state of logjam with their demands opposing the two cities.Majority community of Jammu wants the Aamarnath land be restored whereas the Srinagar majority community wants the land should not be alloted to Amarnath land trust. Both cities are protesting for their own demands which has put the centre and state leaders in state of fix and line of demarcation exits with new modalities.Leaders from both side is propunding their points in favour.Srinagar hardliners too have jumped in the fray expressing their solidarity with the peoples voice.Jammu protest continues wheras the Srinagar has given three days moratorium.A self moribund for the peoples of two cities with emotions running high for their mental need when their physical needs for daily life remains a constant worry. Srinagar protest has tunred their attention from land row to,fruit growers apathy,economic blockade,trade beyond LOC and protesters rasing anti-Indian slogans,cause of worry for adminstration.The public protesters memo to UNMOIP by various organisation for self determination puts Srinagar leaders in dire straits for ensuing assembly and parliament elections. Twin city protests sometime emerging in agitation is causing more harm to the common man and business comes to stand still.In this quandery, Indian government has little options but to call for diaglogue of the protesters.Jammu which is more populous has created their agaitation as mass movement. Leaders of the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarash Samiti (SAYSS), spearheading the agitation, claimed over 3.5 lakh people courted arrests in 10 districts of Jammu province.Of these, thirty percent were women, they said. The protesters also disrupted an official cultural function organised by the administration at Abhinav Theater here this evening. Rapid Action Force jawans, however, swung into action and dispersed them by resorting to baton charge and teargas shelling. Later the function was called off. Curfew was relaxed in Jammu city for 15 hours from 5 am, while it was eased for nine hours in Samba. In Udhampur, authorities relaxed curfew for 17 hours from 5 am while in Kishtwar, it was eased for three hours from 7 am. Meanwhile, SAYSS convenor Leela Karan Sharma has said the ball is in the Centre"s court to put an end to the controversy. “If the Centre is not interested, we too do not have a time frame and the agitation will continue," he said. |
